Griffin was founded as a specialist accountancy provider to academy schools and currently work with academies across the South West and South Coast with clients ranging from Cornwall to Hampshire. The firm has built up an enviable level of expertise in the sector and is proud that our growth has been predominantly fuelled by referrals from existing clients who are happy with our service.

Misty Nickells FCA

Misty has been working in the education sector throughout her career. Initially in the further and higher education sectors and since the start of the academy movement in 2010/11 academy schools. Misty has overall responsibility for leading the firms approach to the academy sector, and is seen as an expert across the region. She has advised schools on all areas of academy finance and has a particular specialism in governance and strategic advice.
Jo Buxton ACA
Jo Buxton ACAAudit and Accounts Manager
Jo is the Audit and Accounts Manager at our Exeter office and is the manager for a portfolio of academy clients, including both Single Academy Trusts and Multi Academy Trusts. She has experience dealing with the various ESFA filing requirements e.g. AAR, budget forecasts and teacher pension audit, as well as grant audits and both internal and external audits. Jo is a good source of knowledge for our academy clients and is often the first point of contact for them.
Liam Dingle ACA
Liam Dingle ACAAudit and Accounts Manager
Liam is the Manager in charge of the Honiton Office. He has worked with Academy Trusts since starting his role in practice in 2012 and has a portfolio of clients ranging from Single Academy Trusts to large Multi Academy Trusts, where he manages the various processes including year end audits, internal scrutiny work, budget forecast submissions, Teachers’ Pension audits, Academy accounts returns and ICFP reports. He has worked with academy clients on most accounting softwares in the sector and is always very approachable and happy to assist with queries.
Penny Morling ACA

Penny is an Accounts Manager at our Honiton office and works with a number of Academy Trusts providing external and internal audit services. She has a friendly approach and often receives great feedback from schools she works with. She enjoys getting out and about meeting clients and is always happy to assist with queries.
Daniel Jones
Daniel JonesAccounts Senior
Daniel completed his degree in Mathematics at Aberystwyth University before spending over five years working at a regional accountancy practice in Wales. He has excellent experience assisting owner managed businesses with their accounts and tax compliance and is currently studying towards his ACCA qualification.
Ryan Bunn
Ryan BunnAccounts Senior
Ryan is a confident and hardworking individual with more than four years experience in both practice and industry. He has achieved the AAT level three qualification and is continuing his studies to become a Chartered Accountant. Ryan is the firm’s champion for the Xero accounting software. He is also an experienced audit senior working with both corporate and not for profit clients.
Anna Leggett MAAT

Anna has several years experience in preparing and completing various ESFA filing requirements including teachers pension audits, external audit and internal audit. She particularly enjoys visiting client sites, meeting the finance team and learning how each schools finance system operates
Lauren Tuff
Lauren TuffAccounts Senior
Lauren has worked in accountancy since 2014, firstly with a local charity and then in the accounts department of a longstanding Exeter business. During this time she has self-funded herself through the AAT qualifications passing both the level 2 and level 3 qualifications. Lauren joined Griffin in 2018 and is progressing through her level 4.
Daniel Jee

Dan is a key member of the academies team, and has gained great experience in both internal and external auditing, as well as ESFA filings. He has completed his AAT level three qualification and is enjoying learning about the academy sector.
